ROSTER ANNOUNCED FOR
CANADA EAST/OJHL EVALUATION CAMP

The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), in partnership with Hockey Canada, has announced the evaluation camp roster for Canada East in preparation for the 2009 World Junior A Challenge. The evaluation camp is the second of three camps for Canada East and will take place in Richmond Hill, Ont. on August 22.

The one-day evaluation camp, hosted by the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), will include 55 players from the OJHL. In total, three games will be played between the participating players.

Canada East will hold three separate evaluation camps for the five eastern CJHL leagues (OJHL, NOJHL, CJHL, LHJAAAQ, MJAHL). The first camp was hosted by the Central Junior Hockey League on August 15 in Renfrew, Ont., and included 64 players from the CJHL, NOJHL and LHJAAAQ, and a final camp hosted by the Halifax Lions will be held on August 23 for MJAHL players.

Details and rosters for the remaining camp will be available shortly. Following the three evaluation camps, the coaching staff will scout players at games and events in Canada’s five eastern leagues before the final roster is named in mid-October.

"The evaluation camps throughout Eastern Canada provide a great opportunity for our staff to view over 100 players and at the same time helps us to promote the 2009 World Junior A Challenge and Team Canada East,” says Canada East general manager Marty Abrams.

Summerside, P.E.I. will host the 2009 World Junior A Challenge from November 1-8, 2009 at Credit Union Centre. The 2009 World Junior A Challenge will follow the same format as previous years – two Canadian entries will be joined by four international teams. Canada East captured the bronze medal in 2008, the first time in three years that it failed to reach the gold medal game.
