SLEDGE HOCKEY TO BE FRONT AND CENTRE
DURING 2010 PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES

For the first time in Paralympic history, fans of Canada’s National Sledge Team will have the chance to watch the team on television from start to finish of the Paralympic Winter Games.

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium announced on Wednesday that every sledge hockey game featuring the host country at the Paralympics will be shown in English on CTV, TSN or Rogers Sportsnet and in French on RDS and RIS Info Sports. In addition, the gold medal game will be shown live on CTV and RDS.

Sledge hockey will be an anchor sport of CTV’s extensive coverage of the Games, as the Consortium will televise a total of 50 hours of the Paralympic Winter Games in English and French. All of the coverage will be available in High Definition.

Canada’s National Sledge Team will go into the 2010 Games as the defending Paralympic champions, having won the 2006 tournament in Italy. Young stars including Bradley Bowden, Greg Westlake and Adam Dixon, along with veterans Paul Rosen and Jean Labonté, will be competing for spots on what will surely be a team with a mix of enthusiasm and experience.

In addition to the live Games coverage, the Consortium announced that Paralympic athletes will be featured on CTV and its partners leading up to and during the event. Fans of Canada’s National Sledge Team can watch Paul Rosen on TSN’s Off the Record tonight at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, and Westlake has been invited to appear on MuchMusic’s Much on Demand on June 26.
