SUPPORTING THE DREAM

On June 25th and 26th, the Canadian Hockey Foundation will host its Fourth Annual Celebrity Classic Gala Fundraiser and Golf Tournament in Calgary. This will be the first time the Foundation has held this two-day event in Calgary, home of Hockey Canada, and it promises to be the best yet!

The event is a fundraiser to build an endowment program to benefit Canadian amateur hockey for generations to come, which echoes this year’s theme: “Supporting the Dream”. The year’s Celebrity Classic serves a dual purpose: first, to raise money for the Foundation’s endowment program, and second, to celebrate Canada’s three-peating success at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship with the presentation of championship rings to the team.
Each year, the Gala Fundraiser gets bigger and better. In its first year 2004, over 400 people attended. Last year more than 700 people attended the event and more than $260,000 was raised for amateur hockey. The Celebrity Classic has raised $805,552 over three years, including a $140,000 in matching funds from the Flames Project 75 Hockey Association in 2004. Now hosted in Western Canada, the Foundation is looking to raise $500,000 at this year’s event.

The Gala fundraiser and ring presentation will be held on June 25th at Calgary’s Telus Conference Centre. TSN’s Gord Miller and Pierre McGuire will return this year as hosts for the evening’s festivities, which will also include a live and silent auction fundraiser. You’ll be able to meet our World Junior Champions, so mark your calendar to attend the Celebrity Classic.

On Tuesday, June 26th the Canadian Hockey Foundation will host its annual golf tournament at the Heritage Pointe Golf Club, located in the beautiful Pine Creek Valley, a short drive from downtown Calgary. Each team will be captained by a member of the IIHF World Junior Championship team. What better way to spend a summer’s day than a day at the links with one of hockey’s rising stars?

The Foundation is fortunate to have Grant Fagerheim as the 2007 Organizing Committee Chair with support from Honorary Chairs Harley Hotchkiss and Daryl (Doc) Seaman. Their leadership and commitment to amateur hockey will make this year’s Celebrity Classic a very memorable event.

There are plenty of sponsorship opportunities. What are the options? Buy corporate tables at the Gala Fundraiser, donate prizes to the auction or golf tournament, sponsor the dinner at the Gala Fundraiser or Golf Tournament, and more. For more information on sponsorship opportunities or to buy tickets to the Gala Fundraiser or Golf Tournament, contact Noel Fader at (403) 777-4562 or nfader@hockey.ca.
